Question:
i think i have an infection

i accidentally scratched one of my incisions last night and this green stuff came out...just a little. It didnt smell but it is a little red around the edges and hard. I called the surgeon and she said unless its really coming out to just use peroxide and antibiotic cream. Im really paranoid,id ont want anything to go wrong but should i go to the ER? The surgeon is over 2 hours away. My PCP is booked...or should i do the peroxide thing? I dont have a fever and im 12 days PO. any suggestions are appreciated. I had the same green gook from each little scab from the staples. Just keep it clean, and do as the doc says. Mine said to use a saline solution, so I use visene eye drops and let it run down over all the little scabs, as long as it doesnt smell or get really yucky looking you should be fine. If you do get a fever or it gets redder or much worse, see your doc, I kept mine uncovered and let it air dry, and kept my shirt up when I was relaxing in the recliner. Good luck :0)
