Question:
How have some of you w/BCBS gone about getting reimbursed
I was approved by BCBS of florida for WLS the first go around. My doctor is out of network. I had the surgery in March-BCBS has paid everyone, but has not sent the reimbursement to my surgeon (I paid him up front-they reimburse the patient what they get from insurance-about $800-1300). Insurance says they need the practice number, but this was provided on the bill. Any ideas-should I just approach them to pay me back directly? — Maureen O. (posted on August 5, 2003)

If the surgeon submitted on a standard claim for all of the info would be
on there. I wonder if the surgeon really submitted. Get a copy of the
claim form from the surgeon and see for yourself if their number is on
there. If it is fax to a specific person at BC/BS and then call to verify
they got it and then ask them to tell you what exactly is missing. Then
you are both looking at the same document. I had horrible problems trying
to get the anesthesiologist's bill into BC/BS's hands so I fnally got it
myself and hand delivered it to the regional office, 20 minutes away.
