Question:
has anyone ever been given an excetions by their employer?
I have been denied twice through united healthcare ppo because of an exclusion my employer has. I work for a small company so i dont think they want to redo thier policy but i keep hearing about employers able to give a one time exception to their exclusion and I was just wondering if anyone has every had that happen and if so what kind of hoops did you have to jump through to get it. thanks all:) — harleigh2002 (posted on July 16, 2003)

I have UHC PPO, and fortunatly didn't have problems getting approved. I
have actualy heard of exclusions done by your employer, but not 100%
certain what hoops have to be jumped thru. I would try tting your Human
Reasourse mgr and find out what the companies policy is pertaining to it,
and taking it all the way up. Good luck and God bless!! 12 weeks out, -54#

I also have United Healthcare and my employer had an exclusion as well. I
had to jump alot of hoops but finally was approved after about 9 months of
fighting. I was also denied twice. In the third level appeal I submitted
information from my family doctor, my endocrinologist (I have Polycystic
Ovarian Syndrome) as well as the dietician I had been working with. UHC
then contacted me and asked me for the surgeon I had selected to write on
my behalf. I contacted them and my surgeon's nurse wrote up a letter which
talked about why I was a good candidate, why I qualified for surgery and
the benefits they thought the surgery would have for me. About a week later
I was approved. It was a long process but well worth it. I am so happy I
had the surgery! Best of luck to you!
