Question:
What size swim suit should I buy for the end of summer?
I get to swim on Monday as I will be 6 weeks post-op and my incision is healed! So I have a size 30 swimsuit which fits. I also have a size 26 swimsuit that I had bought on sale for "the future". I just saw a swimsuit that I LOVE in a catalog for 50% off...but what size should I buy? I thought at first a 28 to wear after the 30 is too big...or should I get a smaller size to wear at the end of summer...like a 24? I've lost 30 lbs since surgery. How quickly did others out there skip sizes? I can't imagine being in a 24 anything by the end of summer! — Sarahlicious (posted on May 16, 2003)

i'd go for a 20/22... the weight comes off really quick in the beginning.
you will drop sizes like you won't believe...good luck

I have gone from a 22 to a 18 in 7 weeks .. I can wear some 16s the end of
summer is months away .. I say a 20, but certainly NO bigger than a 22 .

I'd save my money for something else. I was in a 26 suit when I had my
surgery on 05/13/02....I lost 70 - 75 pounds by the end of summer and still
wore the suit. If you have a 30 and a 26 you will be fine.

Sarah,
I would buy it in the size you really want to be in "At Goal"
something to work towards, seeing you already have a back up one that you
purchased, especially if you really like it. I wound buying things allong
the way post op, How-ever I bought everything at Garage sales and thrift
stores, I tried my darndest to keep up with my sizes, I'd buy a pair of
pants, wash them, and 2 weeks later put them on to find out they didn't
fit, ( and to find out my tastes changed) I no longer wear baggy clothing,
or stretch or elastic waist jeans. Also my bathing suits, the one I took a
picture in no longer fits, oh man I look aweful, I went out and bought a
smaller size, and I mean smaller size bathing suit, one that would push up
the breasts, and hold back the skin.... and it's awesome....
So in my opinion, if you're totatlly in love with it, by it in a small
size.... hang it in your room on your door, and every now and then jump in
it.... You'll be amazed !

considering your starting weight off 400+ odds are against you getting into
a 24 by end of summer...but it's not impossible. I lost about 90 pounds
(started at 425) before I went down in sizes. It's weird, but the larger
you are the more you have to lose to notice a difference in the body.
Face, legs and arms seem to go first, body last. Nice thing is, swimsuit
material will flex up and down a few sizes so you could wear the one you
have quite a while. Congrats on doing so well!

Just a thought- maybe you ought to wait. If a bathing suit is on sale for
50% off already during the summer season, imagine how cheap will be at the
end of the summer! Like the others said, you won't believe how many sizes
you will go down, and its hard to calculate. I lost 120lbs. and generally
went down a size each month, if that helps you. But I did sometimes buy
clothes in advance like you want to, and even surpassed them before I could
wear them! Losing weight is an amazing thing! :-)
