Question:
How successful is this surgery for PCOS patients?
I have recently dianosed with PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) and my WLS date is June 4. My mom told me about a show that her friend watched that had a girl on there with PCOS who has only lost 50 lbs in 6 months. I was wondering if there is anyone out there with PCOs that is post-op that can share their story..Thank you in advance! — kle0007 (posted on April 18, 2003)

Hi there!
I have PCOS and I want to have a baby sooooooo bad. As a matter of fact
that was my main reason along with the obvious others for having this
surgery. I was and still am in good health with the exception of being
overweight and PCOS'ed! I am now 6 and 1/2 mo post op and to date have
lost 104. I think it works well for those of us that fight PCOS. I expect
to lose about 6-9 pounds by the end of this month too. For the last 3
months the bulk of the loss I have had has been at the tail end of the
month. It just seems to be the way it wants to go off for me. I fully
expect to be at a loss of around 110-112 by the end of this month. I hope
that I give you hope that the surgery works fine for those of us plagued by
PCOS. Good luck and I hope you have a wonderful Easter!

ONLY 50 lbs in 6 months?? How many people out there can say they have lost
and maintained a 50 lbs loss in 6 months without wls? Not many. Also many
without pcos and having wls have only lost 50 lbs in six months? everybody
losses at their on rate. Please don't listen to negative stories that are
2 or 3rd generation. ( someone knows someone that heard something) they
are almost always misinterpreted somewhere down the line. Surround youself
with people and things that lift you up and inspire you if at all possible
at this time and good luck.
