I did alot like Ruthie, but I was bad and lived on srambled eggs and
pinto'n'cheese from taco bell, I was always sick back then and only ate
maybe 2 meals a day, so I just ate what my stomach tolerated and had some
protien and low fat. I did drink alot of protien drinks since food made my
tummy hurt. Fine now! (almost 7 mo. post-op open RNY lost 109#)

Hi! I'm 3 weeks post op and eating the following homemade foods so I know
what's in them...chicken soup with carrots and potatoes, scrambled egg,
cottage cheese, yogurt, boiled chicken, hummus, black beans, Atkins shakes,
ham and cheese roll-ups. I'm not sure that egg fu young is a good choice.
Here in NY it's made with ALOT of onions AND fried in oil in the wok.
Maybe a better Chinese choice would be chicken and black bean sauce (not
too oily), or even shrimp. Additionally, the chicken cheese steak? I'm
not so sure if that's a good choice either...so much high-fat cheese. The
other day I had a small Wendy's chili. I only ate half and I was pretty
hungry before I started to eat. It went down well and stayed with me a
long while. It's very low in fat, high in fiber AND protein. I'm hungry,
too. You're the only one I actually heard say that they were hungry. When
I feel really ravenous, I have a yogurt or SF FF pudding or a protein
shake...for some reason, that really fills me up pretty quickly and keeps
me full for a while. I think initially we should try to avoid the takeout
stuff. It's boring, I know, but I tell myself "you're not having xyz
today, you can have it tomorrow." Although I say this out loud to
myself every day, it seems to work. Good luck and stay in touch via email
if you'd like.

Any type of cooked egg, from hard boiled, scrambled, fried etc..tuna,
chicken, ham or egg salad over crackers. Soft crab cakes, steamed crab,
broiled fishes, steamed white fish, cooked shrimp are great. Ease into the
meats, like ground beef, and chicken by making sure that they are very soft
and in liquids, like chicken from a crock pot or ground beef with tomato
sauce. Eat tiny bites of these until you know whether the pouch will
accept it.
