Question:
Tricare Ins. question?
I had surgery on the 14th of Feb. I got two statements from my insurance stating what they paid and what they didn't. 1st, the surgery bill was $40,000. They covered only about $5000. Then I got info from my surgery that the anesthesiologist was not a covered procedure. Today, I received a bill for $3055. What do I do? Do I have to pay this money? I was under the impression that this was all covered? HELP!!!!! — Stephanie T. (posted on April 3, 2003)

I also have TRICARE, I am assuming you are talking about TRICARE PRIME. THe
hospital, DR, etc... axcept what TRICARE pays. They paid for my stay, the
DR, including the anesthesiologist. I would call TRICARE and the hospital
and DR's offices, to see where the mixup is. I only had to pay my co-pay of
11.00 per day.

Another Tricare person here.. Prime actually. Call TRICARE right away.
Make sure to keep a record of when you call, who you talk to, and what they
tell you. If you were all preapproved and used a provider hospital then
most likely its just a mix up. Once you talk to Tricare, be sure to call
the hospital billing department and let them know whats going on!
