Carla, I have Highmark BCBS and they paid totally for my BPD last June. It
IS possible that they made some sweeping changes at the first of the year,
but it could be the policy that your employer pays for. I was told that
submissions for WLS are handled on a case by case basis, and that each one
goes up for medical review. Do yourself a favor and don't rely on the
printed material.. call Highmark with pen and paper in hand.. note who you
talk to, and ask them point blank if they have a WLS exclusion. You may be
surprised with the answer, and if nothing else you will HAVE an answer from
a human being. I wish you the very best of luck! ~Peace
