Question:
Can Nutrasweet cause headaches and fatigue?
I have been drinking Lipton Diet Ice Tea with Lemon and is Decaf. It is sweetened with Nutrasweet and lately I have had some headaches and grogginess. I just started drinking it a few weeks ago. Could the Nutrasweet cause this? — Sunny4x4chick (posted on March 3, 2003)

I have never experience this but have known others who have. I just went
to www.msn.com and typed in "headaches nutrasweet" and there were
many articles about this. Hope this helps.

I don't know about the grogginess, but it definitely can cause headaches.
Years ago, I used to drink "Diet Rite" pop. They switched from
saccharine to nutra sweet and that's when I quit drinking the pop. The
headaches were horrible. It doesn't seem to bother me as much now, but if
you're new to nutra sweet, it could definitely be the culprit.
Good Luck

I have never been able to tolerate anything with nutrasweet. Whenever I
would tell people that I could not use it because it gave me headaches,
they'd just think it was a cop out. I could see the looks on their faces
that said "Yeah right, you must like being fat." You are not
alone regarding nutrasweet.

no neutrasweet for me. Headaches was a pre-op problem I had. So I swore
neutra sweet off a few years ago. I'm a splenda girl myself.

Nutrasweet gives me terrible headaches! I am looking forward to trying Diet
Rite with splenda, just to see how it tastes.

I get all around bad feelings when I drink/eat anything with nutrasweet,
asparatame, anything along those lines makes me get dumping syndrome. I
prefer Splenda as well, tastes more like real sugar and doesn't give me
problems!

YES!!!! It is cumulative so it is tricky but I agree if you stop it you
will notice the head aches fade quickly. I got that from crystal light and
have not touched it since. I do love that lipton iced tea though and I find
if I limit it to 1 glass a day or every other day I am okay.

Yup - it affects a bunch of folks. A previous poster mentioned Diet Rite
going from Saccharine to nutrasweet - now they have gone to Splenda. The
only soda with Splenda I have found is DietRite and Hansen's. Crystal
lite-ready to mix is nutrasweet, crystal lite ready to drink in a bottle is
splenda - I wrote Kraft and they said they weren't going to change all CL
any time soon :(. Make your own decaf tea and sweeten it with
splenda...cheaper and headache free.
