I need your help, I have United Healthcare POS ILLINOIS

I work at Wells Fargo, Illinois. I have United Healthcare POS. I have been trying to have this done for 2 years. I keep on getting denied by UHC POS ILLINOIS. They keep giving me the wrong address/ fax number to send my paperwork. Ia m so tired of all of this. It's Driving me CRAZY! Does anyone have any advice?    — Tara C. (posted on February 14, 2003)

When you call to get the information from the insurance company are you speaking with just the Customer Service Rep? or are you asking to be transfered to the Pre-Authorization dept that handles your group? It may be called something else (depending on the insurance company) Pre-Certification or Medical Review dept. Speak with someone there, get their first name and last initial, phone # and ext. and then ask THEM for the fax number. The customer service rep is liable to give you the wrong number for the wrong group...hang in there and be persistent!! Good luck and best wishes!! Robin

The previous poster hit it on the head but not vehemently enough....GET PEOPLE'S INFORMATION (name, number & such). When you call them, tell them you want the pre-authorization department. One question I would ask is if different areas authorize different procedures. Unless that is the case, I would not specify what type of surgery you're having until you get to THE person you need to talk to. Sending things certified with a return signature request holds people accountable also. It seems that you are getting a SERIOUS run around. And why hasn't your doctor put his foot down? Good luck.

I also have United Health Care POS, but in Texas. These are the numbers I have for them for when we submit my info to insurance: 877-611-2273 & 800-648-7188. One is a voice # and the other is a fax #. Good luck.

Hi, my insurance is with PHCS-Tufts Health Plan. Am waiting approval. The day I met with the surgeon I asked the insurance person what kind of track record they had. She told me the ONLY company she consistently has problems with is United in Illinois. I am going through Northwestern Memorial in Chicago. Just thought I'd let you know what I'd heard.
