Question:
SRETCHING YOUR POUCH
How easily can you stretch your pouch? I'm 3 weeks out and someone scared me and said you better be careful your gonna stretch your pouch out. I ate 3oz. of chicken instead of 2 oz. and I was very full but I never got sick or threw up, just uncomfortable for 30 minutes or so. I normally eat only 2oz. Did that 1 extra ounce do me in? — Kelly* P. (posted on February 8, 2003)

I highly doubt that you stretched your pouch. I too am 3 weeks post op and
my doc has me eating 6 ounces.

Have no fear, you're fine.

Probably not. If you do it consistently, sure. But a goof now & then
is not going to ruin your pouch.

I wanted to say something on this issue because everyone seems to be so
afraid of this. You do eventually want the pouch to stretch. This is
normal, and this is what it should do to allow us to be "normal".
You cannot stretch out your pouch so soon after having had surgery. But do
know that eventually, some months from now, it will stretch out.
