Question:
If hbp pills are too large, can they pass through before being absorbed?
I went from three hbp pills pre-op to one post op. I had been cutting the pill in half and my bp was great - 110/70 on average. I tried taking the pill whole, which I easily swallowed, but my bp shot up to 120/94. Once I cut the pill again, it seems to have gone back down - 120/81 this morning. Anyone had similar experience? — John P. (posted on August 19, 2002)

Hi John, That's an interesting question and thought I would respond. My
Mom experienced the same results with a medication she was taking. When
she split the pill she saw results, when she took it whole she did not. I
really don't feel the problem lies with the size of the pill, but rather
the coating on the pill. These coatings are very difficult for anyone to
break down. I'm sure it's even more difficult with someone who has had
WLS. This is the exact reason I will continue to recommend liquid
supplements rather than tablets. My feelings are why spend your money on
something that will pass right through the system when you will receive
more benefit with liquid supplements. Feel free to visit the following
website for liquid supplements that offer extremely high absorption within
minutes.
