Question:
I am eating sunflower seeds, is this horrible?
I have found that I am eating sunflower seeds off and on all day. Am I going to ruin my weight loss chances? I feel addicted to them and I know it seems like I eat a lot of them, however, I know that a lot now compared to before surgery is really not a lot. What do you guys think? — Dustra S. I eat sunflower seeds but as part of a meal. 1/4 C of shelled seeds (I'm
too lazy to crack 'em) has 9 grams of protein. They are high fat but it is
an unsaturated fat that is much more healthy than butter and so on. For
myself, I don't worry about the fat content as much as refined
carbs.<p>Constant snacking is a sure way to snooker your surgery. If
you find you cannot limit your seed intake to a mealtime maybe you should
think about giving them up.

I snack on them alot too. I am not getting in my protein so I figure every
lil bit helps. I think if you measured them out you would be surprised at
how little you are really eating. I know it seems like alot but 1/4 of a
cup is 8 grams protein (I am looking at my bag of them now) and it takes a
long time to chew them up good and they are filling for the pouch. I do
much better "snacking" than I do trying to eat 3 meals a day. I
have seen some VERY sucessful people on here that eat 6 "meals" a
day and some call that snacking. Others eat 3 times a day but bigger
amounts. So the call is yours but for now I am with you I LOVE my seeds!!~
Far better 4 you than chips or some other choices we could b making.

Lots of people are very successful with 6 small meals--I see a meal as any
time you have planned to eat. My bag says 9 grams of protein--wonder where
they found an extra gram. I also found some honey roasted seeds. They have
2 grams of sugar instead of the 1 gram listed on the regular seeds. They
are very tasty. I try not to eat anything with more than 3 grams of sugar
per serving.

I thought that it was just me. All of a sudden I love sunflower seeds, I
snack on them all day and even sprinkle them on salads. I don't see any
harm, it's better than my old snacks of candy bars.
