Question:
I am 9 weeks post op and even though i am allowed to start solids now i cant eat more
then a fork full or i bring it back up is this normal and will i ever be able to eat more then a fork full. I am scared to eat more then that in fear of vomiting. I have heard people say they can eat 5 oz now but i cant hold even an oz down. — Kathy S. (posted on May 7, 2002)

I was the same way for quite some time, so don't lose heart. I could not
keep anything down for a long time. Actually, it was about 3 1/2 mos, I
believe when it began to change. Just try to use protein drinks if you
can't keep food down. I know some drs. discourage protein drinks after 6
weeks, but you gotta do what you gotta do. But hang in there and make sure
you drink water. I am doing great now and am enjoying foods in moderation/

You'll need to ask to be scoped to see if your stoma has closed or is just
drawn up too tight. It's fairly common, and often referred to as a
stricture. It's a simple procedure to fix. I see we are neighbors! We
have support group mtgs here next week and you are most welcome to attend!
