Question:
My BMI is 35-36 with co-morbitities. Approval with Blue Cross Prudent Buyer?

Hi-This board is wonderful and I am new to it. I weight 205-210 at 5'4" so my BMI is 35-36. I have type 2 diabetes, hypertension, gallstones, severe fatigue, etc. etc. I know with my family history of heart disease, and my health that if I don't get the weight off I will not live long. I am in the process right now of waiting for blue cross prudent buyer to approve. Anyone know what my chances will be? Thanks for your help.    — Joanie J. (posted on April 2, 2002)

Ask your ins co asap...a cust. serv rep should know. The most widely accepted requirements as I understand them are 40+ BMI with no comorbities, or 35-39 with health issues. You fall into the second category, I think. Whatever you do though, don't try to gain weight to qualify for WLS...Good Luck!
