With less than perfect credit, you can't just walk into your local bank and get a personal loan with a good APR. You'll probably have to go to a secondary provider and these folks can charge up to 28% interest. (You can find these guys on the Internet and it's never a problem to get approval.) The only way around this is to put up some collateral, i.e. a house, car, etc. that can be seized if you fail to pay back your loan. Honestly, it is my opinion that you should do anything you can to have this surgery and worry about paying it off in the future. I know, after losing 171 lbs., I can carry 3 or 4 jobs and still have energy left over!!! Fortunately, my insurance covered my surgery, but if it hadn't, I would have gotten myself into some serious debt to improve my health like this surgery has done. Good luck.

There are companies that will finance elective surgery. Be careful, though, many of them have predatory lending practices. This web site shows several companies, but also warns of unscrupulous practices. I wish you the best! http://www.psinteractive.net/fees.htm#fees

I had to self pay a good portion of my surgery 11,000. Because I wanted to have a particular surgeon who was not on the preferred group. I took out a Home equity loan to cover that cost. If you own your own home you might want to check that out. Good Luck.

I know your surgery date has passed. I hope everything went well for you and you found financing. Anyone else out there that needs help...I am a surgery patient and I also am a loan officer for a Mortgage Company. If you own your home or are thinking about purchasing a home, I may possibly be able to help you.
