Question:
Is this normal?
I had a lap rny on 2/18/02, I have a weird feeling near one of the cuts. It feels like a muscle wants to pop out. I can't think of any better way of saying this. It's a very stange feeling. What is this and has anyone had this? I cannot say that it is painfull... just a super weird pressure from the inside pushing out. Thanks in advance! — Pattyrau (posted on February 23, 2002)

It could possibly be a seroma, a collection of fluid behind the incision. I
had open RNY so I have a four inch scar but there are two holes in the
incision that drains fluid constantly. Before the holes appeared my
incision was very hard, almost like it was going to bust. I would call
your surgeon because if there is a collection of fluid and it is not
draining, your surgeon can drain it for you. Better safer to ask then to
be nervous. I hope this helps! : )

I had a lap rny on 1/26 and I get the same sensation -- usually when I lie
flat on my back. The nurse told me that it's fairly normal -- especially
near the port used to do most of the work (in my surgeon's case, the lower
left one). Apparently, it's your muscles trying to heal.

Could be a hernia or build up of scar tissue.
