It sounds like you are describing a rny surgery. In this surgery the
stomach is stapled and a band placed at the bottom of the stapled pouch.
The surgeon selects the amount of intestine to bypass and cuts the small
intestine brining the cut portion up and attaching it to the stapled
portion of the stomach. The bypassed portion of the small intestine is
reattached to allow the gastric juices to enter the small instestine below
the joining of the small intestine with the pouch - this makes the Y in the
rny bypass. The vbg is a vertical banded gastroplasty which is like the
first half of the rny and includes the stomach stapeling and banding but
not the bypass. I don't know a lot about the Fobi pouch, you may want to
look it up in the library here to find out more about it. Good luck.

Hi rachel, I thought I'd pass this on to you I've been told that the
procedure is called a Fobi Pouch Gastric Bypass. Look up this web page it
should tell you. http://www.johnhustedmd.com/procedures.htm
Check out the fobi pouch and the other one called a Bilopancreatic
Diversion with a Duodenal Switch. Wanda Johnson passed this information on
to me and hopefully it will help you as well. Have a great day and God
Bless.
