Question:
bulging veins and thin skin
It has been 11 mos since my rny and lost a total of 128 lbs. my skin on my arms and legs is so thin. You can see all my veins. Also i have big dogs and when they "paw" me it leaves the ugliest red marks on my arms. (looks like i bleed under the skin). just wondering if any one else has these issues. — bikermama (posted on April 1, 2009)

Get their nails trimmed short that should help some.

In Sept of this year will be 3 years post op for me. I have small dogs,
and have exhibited the same problem. I spoke with my PCP. The explanation
I was given is indeed the arm is thinner. Before we had more padding
between the blood vessels and the skin. Now we dont. It is bleeding under
the skin, just like a bruise basically. This has happened by bumping
something hard, digging for something in tight places, but mostly from my
dogs. One has the illusion that the skin is thinner and weaker, but no,
thats not it. On other areas of our body where there is more fatty tissue
you get the bruising we are used to seeing. However as explained above you
get the redness under the skin on our arms due to less tissue between the
skin and the blood vessels. I hope this makes sense. :) it did to me
when she explained it. Trimming the dogs nails will help some, but mostly
it is the pressure. Our age is also a consideration. :) Deb
