Question:
Proteinuria????? Can anyone help??????
Hi all, I went to my Dr's Office today and he said my urine test shows I suffer from Proteinuria, I am scheduled for an ultrasound of my kidney ans I'm scheduled to see (nephrology) he said it is because of my weight and since am in the group of hispanic/latinos I am at a higher risk.....I've never heard of that and I was reading uo on it and it scared me, (since it's kidney failure) this is just another thing to add to my health issues. My question is has anyone heard of this? Is this considered a comorb?. And what is end-stage renal disease? — Jan D. (posted on April 2, 2008)

Did he do a test of just one sample or did he have you collect it over the
course of 24 hours on everything you passed, except when you first got up
in the morning? A single sample is never that accurate. I have this test
every 6 months as I show protein in my urine. It has acutally got better
and now is just a trace, but I am diabetic, Type II. It is serious, but
understand that your weight can have a lot to do with it. As my weight has
come down, so has the traces of protien in my urine. Get retested and get
him to tell you how much over normal you are. Best of Success to you.

Actually it was done over a 24 hr period when i got up in the morning. Dr
told me to skip the first morning urine, but then continue until the first
urine passed the following morning. I have to see him in 2 wks to find out
how much over I am. Thank you william for your responce
