Question:
Has anyone had a lift w/o implants and gone back later to have them?

I had my plastic surgery consultation the other day and the doc is very gungho about doing the lift, but he's not too sure he wants to do implants. He says I'll be left w/ a b cup and I KNOW NOW that I want at least a full C and am willing to pay out of pocket for the implants, but he is suggesting I do the lift and if I want the implants in 9 months time or so, we can go back in and do them. I live in Germany and over here the doctors are DIFFERENT than in the states, so I don't know what to do. I know NOW I want them, so why would I wait and have TWO surgeries?? Anyone have any thoughts, comments or suggestions on this, please contact me    — cedsangel (posted on January 16, 2006)

Listen to the Dr. I got the implants and seriously regret it.I was a 34 "almost" B My 34 C I wanted turned out to be a 34 DD with fairly small implants. The real issue is the rippling I have experienced from the implnats. My profile has some detail and I am very willing to share pictures. I have seriously considered getting them removed. Nice, 8K and nothing to show for it but scars on my chest. or keep them and have deformed looking breasts. Or pay another Dr. to redo another 8 K and no guarentees they will be better. I would kill to be a nice perky B and no implants. Sorry, I am just feeling a little bitter and a lot depressed.

Congrats on needing the lift! :) Did he tell you why he wanted to wait? Is it to long under anesthia to do both at the same time? Does he have experience with people who've had WLS? Just as with WLS I would do my homework, to make sure I have full confidence in my doc. If I had a choice I would only want 1 surgery also, but sometimes with PS they do not want to keep you under to long. LOL. Make sure to update and let us know how everything goes. Jen RNY soon:)

Kay, I've been doing a lot of research into plastic surgery myself, so I can relate to what you're talking about. I actually just got back from a trip to Spain - during which I interviewed several plastic surgeons. I was SUPER impressed by the surgeons I met. If you want to see the contact info I have for the surgeons I met - go to www.bodybybaltasar.com and choose the Plastic Surgery tab. I met Dr. Federico Perez de la Romana (in Alicante, Spain) and Dr. Andres Nemseff and Dr. Juan Araujo (in Benidorm, Spain) - they were all great. I have some pictures for both of them at the web site. Both had great input on the to implant or not to implant debate. I've always hesitated about getting implants - but after seeing that implants doesn't necessarily mean MONGO HUGO boobs - well, it was nice to understand the options! I will say that knowing and trusting your surgeon is SO important! I have a good friend who went into surgery having requested a large B or small C cup, but came out of surgery with a VERY full D cup - her surgeon thought her husband would like it better. Sorry - but her husband doesn't have to LIVE with them! Unethical! And tacky! She said, "I didn't want to look like a hootchie momma!" Anyway - shop around! I've looked into plastic surgery here in the States (Oregon, Washington, Texas, Beverly Hills, Miami), and also Thailand, South Africa, and now Spain. I'm pretty sold on Spain. In fact, if I came into money today - I'd be scheduling my surgery with Dr. Perez de la Romana before the day was out. Best of luck to you! Blessings, dina

LOL - just wanted to say to Dina that I am a DD cup after WLS weight loss and I DO NOT look like a hootchy momma! LOL I have never understood why people with sexy large breasts are told to get reductions, but people with sexy long legs are not told to hide them! Kay, Go by what you want! At least get a second opinion from another doctor! C cup is not that big - in fact it is now the average!

i am getting ready to have a lift and replacement of my current implants (lots of sagging with the weight gain and loss). its not unusual to have implants put in at the time of a lift...maybe you can call his nurse and ask why he prefers that..and maybe interview some other surgeons, see what they have to say. i have had implants for 10 years and i love them, they are very natural (silicone). some people even find they don't need the lift, that the implants are enough to fill the loose skin--though that totally depends on degree of sagging. good luck!
