Question:
Size 8 at 190 lbs???
Just in the past 2 days I have dropped to a size 8 and I still weigh 189-190 lbs. Getting into an 8 was my goal. But according to my IBW I should be 150-160 lbs. I am 5' 7" tall with a large frame. What size should I expect if I lose the additional 30-35 lbs? — dragonflier (posted on July 3, 2009)

I am five seven and I look my best at around 150-160 pounds. However,
everyone's body is proportioned differently. If you are looking the way
you want, and feeling heatlhy then I wouldn't worry about sizes.

Sizes run different than when we were young. You must be tall. If you fit
in a six 8 be glad. I am 118 and wear a six 4/6. In my teens at 105 I
wore those sizes.
And then there is the fact of the loose skin making you weigh more than you
really do.. I set my scales down 5# to compensate for the skin. It is not
fat, it is just skin that I can't do anything about..

Lesleigh,
I have already had my plastics done in 2007, so I can't really count that
extra skin......cuz its all gone. LOL!

I am 5'8" 175 lbs. and i have tried on so many different clothes and I
can fit into most 12's but have some 10's too, so depends on clothes, frame
and proportion. I really wouldn't worry about sizes, Just be Thankfull. You
are what you are!!!

What's an IBW? Ideal Body Weight? Some people use acronyms on here that I
have no idea what they mean...but after a few minutes thought, I think I
may have figured this one out. I am also 5'7" (but I used to be
5'9") - and my surgeon thinks that 170 is a good goal for me, but I
want to get down to 150. I don't think I have ever in my LIFE worn a 10 or
a 12, and I'm not sure I will now... I think my behind is to broad. But
you know... I was in a size 14-16 when I got married, so if that's the best
I get, I'll be happy. It's a heck of a lot better than a woman's size 28
or 30!

Since you dropped in size, maybe the scale will reflect the change shortly
also. Congrats!

I am 5-7" also and I was never a size 8 at the weight you are now. I
was more like a 16-18 because I am pear-shaped. As the other posters have
said it is all about proportion more than actual weight. And more so for
you since you have had plastics. The main thing for you to be concerned
with is are you healthy at your current weight or will you be healthier at
the lower 150-160 range per the standardized height/weight tables? It seems
reasonable that if you lose an additional 30-35 lbs thatn you will end up
in a smaller size but maybe not more than 1 size less due to the plastics
that have already re-proportioned your figure. Only time will tell for
sure.

I am hovering at 190 now (6 months post op RNY) and I can fit into a
regular Large pants or a size 14 pants/jeans. I know if I had the skin
removed from my belly I would be able to fit in a 12 or maybe even a 10.
The extra skin prevents me from being in a smaller size. Now on TOP I wear
a xl or a 14/16 because my breasts are still a 40 DD. I wish I would have
lost my breasts first, but I lost my butt and hips LOL....

Don't listen to all the hype about that...I am 6 foot 4 inches and my
"ideal" weight is 185. That being said, my current weight is 310,
with a body fat of 34%. That means that I can only physically lose
91lbs...then I would be an X-ray with hair! To reach my ideal weight I
would have to have bone removed...and I obviously don't want to be
"ideal" that badly.
