Question:
Sucking air...
Hi everyone...quick question. Just recently I started having issues right after I eat with air and gurgling in my pouch. I feel the need to belch a lot so I thought that I was swallowing too much air while I was eating. So I started slowing down more when I eat and trying to be real conscience about that while eating and its still happening. Does anyone know how I can stop sucking in so much air???? :) Thank you! — Mary G. (posted on September 18, 2008)

Hi, I have the same thing happening. I think it is the food passing in the
pouch its self. Right after surgery I teased my husband about the docs
putting a baby in because I swore my whole stomache was moving from the
air. I can feel the air after eating and it feels like I need to belch
also. I feel it is just the food passing.

that's normal. It is part of our new life :o)
I was talking to my mom on the phone the other day after eating and one
slipped- she said "nice one" I told her I think it is just part
of who I am now LOL... something I have got to get used to....

Isn't it a funny feeling!!! My dietican teaches her patients a new way of
eating. Maybe you could try it. It really seems to help me. First off, chew
your food well. Second, before swallowing, exhale and swallow before taking
another breath. It takes alot of practice, but it has helped me alot. Good
luck. Paula

I have the same problem, and I asked my doctor about it. He said that
before surgery when we swallowed food (with air), it had the whole stomach
for the air to move around in, so it wasn't as noticeable. But now we have
a much smaller stomach and there is little room for the air to
"bypass" the food, so we feel the food pushing through, and then
the air gurgles past it and back out...hope that makes sense to you.
Anyway, it at least makes me be sure to slow down if I am drinking or
eating too fast!

Burping can also mean a sign of fullness. That is what I do when I am full.

I have been told to breath throught my nose and close my mouth , the air
from you nose is directed to you lungs, the air from you mouth, go to your
stomach. Hope this help, I don't have a problem with this. Good Luck and
GOD BLESS.
