Question:
Could this be from an ulcer?
My doc said I could take any medication on the not safe list if I took a Pepcide AC first. So I have been takeing Aleeve. I get a terrible smell coming from my insides that only I can smell, it isn't when I burp, I just smell this awful rotting animal smell. Could this be the sign of an ulcer? Also I threw up about a month ago and threw up blood, could this be from that and maybe my esophagus is damaged and rotting? — Louise P. (posted on August 1, 2006)

Pepcid won't protect you from NSAIDS, tho some docs think it will. Aleve
fried my NORMAL stomach, when it was full sized. As to the rotten smell,
um, which end? I don't think the Aleve would make anything stink. BUT the
vomited blood needs to be seen yesterday! An ulcer can hurt, or cause
unrelenting nausea OR perforate, so bad scene. Better to schedule an appt
to be checked than to end up in ER, right?

I agree with the earlier answer. Aleve is not good at any time, I used to
take it for a bad knee and wound up with a bleeding ulcer way before I ever
even needed this surgery. I don't think I will ever even risk taking it
again. The rotting smell could be Ketosis, dont know what stage of post op
you're at so not sure. But DEFINITELY you need to stop taking the Aleve
and go to the doctor/hospital NOW, do not play with puking up blood.

I take prescription Nexium every day, and I am not allowed to take Aleve!
