Question:
Starting the soft mushy foods?

Was wondering how am I going to get the required amount of protein I need if your 3 meals only equals 20-30g if that? Am I suppose to be eating these meals more than the 3 times a day? I am so confused because I know once I get to the solids stage it tell me to set aside the times of day for your 3 meals and no snacking? However just starting out on the soft/mushy stuff what is the max you are allowed to have at a meal(1/4 cup I thought)???? I could really use some help her people.....Thank you    — MicheleAD (posted on March 13, 2010)

i have one more week of pureed food left, all I eat is Atkins Advantage protein shakes they have 15grams of protein, I eat smashed bean with cheese and mashed potatoes. I have a diet plan that gives you an example for 3 weeks of pureed, soft foods and regular diet. I can e-mail it to you if you'd like just message me. It really helped me

My doctor has us eating 3 meals a day and 3 snacks. So each meal I have contains protein much doesn't add up to much since we can't eat much. The snacks I have are 2 protein shakes that give me around 25grams each and then the final snack if I need it is something else protein like sugar free jello with protein powder mixed in. I think eating your small amounts 3 times a day is fine but it is hard to get the protein you need so supplementing with shakes is the easiest. Good Luck!

I was allowed only protein until I lost 75% of my weight. I was supposed to eat 3 meals of protein and at the begining I could only have a 1/4 c of any protein and that was a stretch but I supplemented with 2 protein shakes a day. I am still not able to tolerate a lot of real protein. This is a problem for me. The Greek yogurt is delish!!

protein supplements are the key in the beginning!!! find something you like and can tolerate and use them daily. i used the LOW CARB SLIM FAST drinks twice a day for the first 6 mo after my surgery and it worked great for me-plus the milk choc. flavor satisfied my sweet tooth.
