Cindy...after 8 years have you been eating the same with NO changes. Or
have you ate a little differently here and there?

Hi Cindy, after 8 years out, do you still keep a food journal of your
daily intake? If not, try starting another journal at least for a while
and review it often to see where you might be going wrong. Good luck to
you :)

another thing to consider...age...as we age weight seems to creep on
especially if you are near middle age. The "middle age spread"
saying comes from somewhere...I know I gained when i got into my forties.
Good luck and God Bless! hugs, kim

You have done wonderful...I'm not sure sure though how to answer your
question because a rapid 25 lb weight gain is usually something medical
like your thyroid going out of whack...I'd say it's just a natural age
progression (Most of everyone gains weight as we get older...We do not fit
in our prom or wedding dresses after some time)...but you gained a lot very
rapidly. And since it's not medical... most likely is your diet. If you are
stressed that doesn't help either!....Something changed that is adding
either hidden or very visual calories or tremendous stress on you or all of
the above. You really need to just diet GB WLS style. Go back to basics to
start...Measure out suggested servings. (4 oz meat...1 oz nuts...1/4 C rice
or potatoes...1.2-1 C veggies and salads...etc) Eat leaner, watch your
snacking and snack choices.Start a daily calorie/food log/journal... Eat
more protein and complex carbs to stay fuller longer...Don't skip
meals...We do sometimes need to go on diets and it seems so much harder
after losing so quickly the first year...but it's not impossible and while
our bodies are different, that should work FOR you and not against
you...But even as a WLS person, the same basic rule applies...Calories =
pounds...There is 3500 calories in one pound...To lose a pound a week, you
need to cut back 500 calories a day...At the end of the week you will have
lost one pound...Add exercise and you can more than double that number with
cardio/sweat...Add weights/resistance to build muscle and you burn
hotter/faster...Plateaus and stalls are the SAME as the first year...They
come often and are often discouraging and you might want to give up before
you realize it's actually working...So you MUST stick to it. You will lose
water weight first (5-10 lbs) if you cut out all sugar and simple
carbs...Those are just water anyway and not really "real" pounds
of weight...that should give you incentive and excitement just by cutting
carbs...you will lose that water really fast...then it will be harder to
actually lose the weight, but not impossible! But if you add sugar and
carbs back yoour body will hold more water...less carbs...less water...so
don't worry about weight fluctuations at first...and start a food log at
one of the sites that others use...Fitday or The Daily Plate...You can do
it!

Begin back with the basics cut out the carbs and eat only protien and veg
for a couple weeks. slowly add fruit. You can stay on this for as long as
you want, a life time even. It will take and keep the weight off. If you
find you are hungryer than even you may need to be looked at for a
revision. There is a board where they talk about this. But carbs are the
most common problem.
