Question:
Mayo!!!
I love tuna and I would eat it a few times a week if I could remember to go to the store and buy a new jar of mayo! I had just bought one the week before my apartment got fumigated for termites, and I had to throw it away because I forgot to put it in the poison-proof bag ... Yep, even the stuff in the fridge had to get bagged! Anyway, I am rambling. The mayo I had bought was Kraft and it's made with olive oil. I don't know too much about the nutritional info, but it is low-fat and it tastes soooo much better than regular low-fat mayo! I was starting to think I was going to have to resign myself to a mayo-free life because the low-fat and fat free ones are just disgusting. It's pretty bad when even TUNA can't mask the taste of a gross mayonnaise! But then I found this and it's just wonderful! So I just thought I'd share this, although I'm sure many of you are already familiar with it ... I'm sure plenty of you aren't! Give it a try - many stores sell the miniature jars of it, so if you don't like it you haven't spent your money on a big jar that's gonna go to waste. I'm so happy that I can enjoy my tuna again! — lauren_marie (posted on August 21, 2008)

I'll second that! I actually compared labels and the olive oil version had
less fat and calories than the "low fat" version, and tastes
pretty darned good. Granted, I still would not qualify this as GOOD FOR YOU
but it does make things like tuna salad and chicken salad palatable without
breaking the "bank."

Thanks for the input on this product. I have been predominately mayo-free
since my surgery because I just didn't like the taste of the low-fat or
fat-free versions out there, and i have tried different brands. I have
always used regular Hellman's but even when I tried just a spot of it, it
just didn't sit well will my stomach. After a few years with no mayo, I'd
basically just written it off, then this summer I saw the ads for that
olive oil based product and wondered how it was. Next time I go for
groceries I will pick it up. I miss ham and turkey salads too, so thanks
for the tip!

I hate Mayo but I did discover that when making tuna salad that if I use
the fat free Mayo that if the sugar free Mt. Olive relish you can't taste
the mayo. The sugar free Mt. Olive relish is wonderful. I get it a Kroger.
It will have a blue line on the label saying sugar free. You should try
it.

I absolutely agree about the Kraft Olive Oil Mayonnaise! I'm not a big
mayo fan, but I needed some one day for something I was making for a family
get-together. I saw the olive oil kind and decided to give it a try. It
is SO much better than even regular full-fat mayo, in my opinion. And it's
a lot better nutritionally, too. Thanks for pointing it out for others!

I like it too. However, I have found that low fat and fat free versions
have higher sugar content and carb content to make them taste better. The
regular mayo has the least amount of carbs. I will admit I don't know how
many carbs are in the olive oil mayo.

If they are putting more sugar in the low-fat and fat free mayo to make it
taste better, it is not working! That stuff is AWFUL!
