Question:
Anyone dealt with Aetna Open Access for Gastric Bypass?

I submitted the paperwork on 9/14, they told it was not received. It was sent on 9/21/ they said it was received that day. I called today and they said it was received on 9/25. I was told it would take 30 days, then told 7 days, and then 3 weeks. How long does it take to get an approval? Should I call everyday? Has anyone had experience like this with Aetna. HI, I HAVE THE SAME INSURANCE AND I CALLED THEM SEVERAL MONTHS AGO TO FIND OUT HOW LONG IT TOOK TO GET APPROVED AND WAS TOLD THAT IT'S USUALLY 24-36 HOURS, WELL IT'S BEEN OVER A WEEK AND I'M STILL WAITING TO HEAR FROM THEM. I DID HAVE A PROBLEM THOUGH, THERE WAS A SHEET OF MY PYSCH EVALUATION MISSING AND IT WAS SENT LATE TUESDAY BUT I'M ABOUT TO GO CRAZY WAITING TO HEAR SOMETHING, MY DOCTOR DID GIVE ME A REFERENCE # TO CALL THE INSURANCE AND CHECK UP ON MY CLAIM BUT I HAVEN'T CALLED THIS WEEK YET. I have Medical Mutual, but I have been calling everyday since last Wednesday. My documents were submitted last week Tuesday. When I called on Wednesday they told me that all documents are scanned into the computer. On Monday, this week, they were finally scanned in. If I were you, I would call every day. My insurance company has been nothing but NICE!!! I even came across somebody that had surgery from the same practice that I'm going to :)

My doctors office told me to call every 48 hrs to make sure they would stay on the case, I got approved in 2 weeks........GOOD LUCK

HI, ME AGAIN. I TOLD YOU EARLIER THAT MY PAPERS WHERE TURNED INTO AETNA POS OPEN PLAN ON THE 13TH OF SEPT, THEY CALLED BACK BECAUSE ONE OF MY PHYSCH EVALUATION SHEETS WERE MISSING AND IT TOOK 2 FULL DAYS FOR THAT DOCTOR TO FAX IT TO THEM, AND FRIDAY 28TH I GOT A CALL FROM MY DOCTOR THAT I WAS APPROVED!! SO THAT'S ABOUT 2 WEEKS EVEN WITH THE DELAY OF THE PHYSCH EVALUATION. GOOD LUCK!!

Mine was received by Aetna on a Monday, Fri they said needed more info (proof of 5 years of obesity from doc), faxed in that day and approved about 3 hours later.
