Question:
What is this burning that I'm feeling
I get a wave across my stomach and into my arms and lower abdomin as if I have drank a shot of tequilla or wiskey or something (BUT I HAVEN'T DRANK ALCOHOL) It feels like it did when I used to drink tequilla. It starts in the center under my diaphram and goes outward very rapidly as if its in my blood or something. Does anyone else get this? Do you have any idea what it might be? It's very alarming. Please let me know. — trenansac (posted on March 20, 2007)

P.S. it doesn't happen at any specific time, it happens whether I've taken
my meds or not and regardless of whether I eat or drink. It's very random
which makes it harder to figure out. I have an appointment with my PCP but
I wanted to find here.

When did you have your surgery? Sometimes you can have things going on the
stomach that can radiate to different areas like you have described. Check
with your PCP or surgeon to see if they need to check you for GERD,
gastritis or an ulcer... good luck

I had the same thing about 2 years out from my surgery which was on August
29, 2001. It turned out to be my gall bladder. I had to have it removed and
it was gangrenous and I feel better since. Ask to have it checked out. I
will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

I get that sort of feeling when I'm shocked or startled... I can feel my
body release the adrenaline and have the sensation of it spreading sort of
from my chest out to my arms and legs. It's also very similar to when I
have been given IV morphine or Imitrex injections. I can feel it go in my
arm and spread out thru my body.
My guess would be that you have something going on with your endocrine
system--hormones. Maybe your adrenal glands. I've never had the type of
hot flashes a menopausal woman might have--so maybe someone else can
address that.
If you aren't already, you might want to write down each time it happens
and also note what you were doing at the time or earlier in the day. Even
tho you haven't found anything to attribute it to, it may be helpful for
the doctor--the more info the better. Best wishes.

P.S.S. I had my surgery on December 4, 2007. It is like the lady above
this post described but I know what a rush of adrenaline is. It doesn't
feel like that but it does spread from my stomach outward and through my
body like she described, more like when you're given something in an iv,
but its a weird sensation, its really hard to explain. I see my PCP on
Friday and I wanted to know if anyone else had it. Thanks for all your
help. I appreciate it.
