Question:
Hurting pouch!!!!
Ive been very good with measuring my food since surgery 3/31. I even purchased a pocket scale. Tues. I had a bust day, was out and about all day, and I went out to eat. Had salmon with a few mushrooms and onions. Ive eaten this before with no problems. I I didnt measure, trusted myself to "eyeball" the portion and I think I ate too much. My stomach hurt. Now, since tues, whenever I eat my pouch feels sore. Can anyone help me with this?? Do I need to rest my pouch? — T. Preston (posted on August 5, 2010)

I agree with Mary, go back on liquids for a day or so and see if that
helps. I don't know what surgery you had, but if you have a band, having a
tiny unfill might help. If going on liquids doesn't help, you may want to
call your doctor for advise.

First of all listen to your Dr. My Dr at 2 months out had me eating just
protein and I think for myself, I pureed everything I ate. But it was only
protein. Your pouch is healing.
FOR me this was life changing, and I am very compliant in what my NUT and
Dr tells me to do. I am shocked that you even can eat, it was a rough year
for me.

If you ate too much you may have strained your pouch and, just like any
other soft tissue injury, a strained pouch is going to take some time to
heal. I would do as others have suggested, back to basics. Go back to
drinking protein shakes for a few days and let my pouch rest.
