As someone who managed to manage to always lose whatever weight that I would pick up along the way here is what I suggest for you: Keep moving Look at your food- are you getting a good balance? Since you have shoulder issues a good excersise for you maybe Zumba. Good Luck

I wish someone has told me how easy this regain is. It's is so frustrating. Just don't let it get away from you. I've seen lots who have gained it ALL back and that is frightening. It's been creeping back on me after 3/4 years and I'm so bummed.

Congratulations on having kept the weight off for so long. Have you looked inot the pouch test diet? It is going back to a liquid diet. If you put the term 'pouch test' into the search box above, it should give you more information. Best of luck.

I AM 1 YEAR OUT AND HAVEN'T HAD TO DEAL WITH THIS YET . BUT AFTER ALL THIS TO GAIN BACK MY WEIGHT IS MY GREATEST FEAR . I'M HOPING THAT TOGETHER WITH THE RNY AND MY PRE AND AFTER SURGERY TRAINING I'LL BE ABLE TO DEAL WITH THIS . I THINK WEIGHT PROBLEMS ARE SO DIFFICULT WE NEED EVERY RESOURCE AND FRIEND TO LEAN ON TO BEAT THIS MONSTER . WALKING IS A GREAT WAY TO JUMP START YOURSELF . JUST TRY AND REMEMBER ALL YOU'VE LEARNED THE LAST NINE YEARS . GOOD LUCK ......ROGER

Had surgery in 2007. I've gained 40 (which looks like 60) pounds due to inactivity and back injuries. Had bilateral knee surgery also. So my problem is exercise (as my pouch is not enlarged and I eat little). If I exercise I risk injury, if I don't, I gain weight. Dilemna! BTW, I'm 61.

If you can't work out then you have to really watch the carbs. Lots of veg and protien. Otherwise walk as much as you can. Swimming works well also.

I think we forget that gaining a little weight as we get older is a natural...Just becaue we had weight loss surgery doesn't mean that we are exempt from the natural aging process! I too, have kept my weight off for 5 years...I have had small weight gains before and had to work really hard by journaling all I ate, cutting fat and carb calories whereever I could, measuring my food and just trying to get on track with eating good choices as well as finding some way to get in exercise....I got a pedometer and worked on trying to get in 10,000 steps a day! Then when summer arrived I was able to get out and work in my gardens and yard as well as swim and walk...I am not fond of the gym...so winters are harder for me to get in natural exercise...I hope some of that helps! Get your labs and vitamins all checked too...Sometimes, you gain because your body is not functioning properly! That was the case with my weight gains. I with you though...working on a little gain myself! Good luck!

I am a permanent weight watchers member and though i have been going for many, many years as I am 10 years post op i have not lost enough weight to reach my goal but it has helped me maintain my weight within 10 lbs. i love it and it keeps me grounded and on track. find a good meeting and a great leader as u can learn so much from other people. exercise is important i try to walk daily on my lunch---try weight watchers--free registration----
