Question:
Anyone have/having Iron IV (RNY post-op)??
I'm 1yr 7mos out (RNY), and have had a severe iron anemia ever since. Yes, I've been on Iron supplements. My PCM started Iron IM, but I am reluctant to continue- tatooing, etc. My gastric bypass doc recommends IV- says stop the IM. Anyone having the IV on a regular basis and doing well with it?? — MammaJ (posted on December 30, 2009)

I am nearly two years out and am doing well. I have IV every three weeks.
It has taken a long time to get the timing right, but this seems to be
working. I can't take tablets because i get so constipated and so IV is my
only answer.

I had iron IV for seven weeks starting about two months out from RNY.
(October 09 - I had some bleeding issues following surgery). I did really
well and my numbers have been good, so far. I go for a recheck in March.
Except for the time involved, the infusions were easy to take and gave me
an energy boost. Good luck!

I tried the iron iv, I am 6 years RYN post op. I manage a medical facility
and my doctors told me I had to do IV iron or I would never be in the
normal range. So I tried, I was allergic to it and so that is not out of
the question. I was sent a sample of a vitamin and have been on it for the
last several months. After 1 month I had my blood drawn and it was in the
low normal range. Pretty good!~ Plus the vitamin tastes great. Check it
out online www.jones.vemma.com or send me an email and I would be happy to
send you some information. Good Luck
