Question:
What to expect?
I have been approved for laproscopic gastric bypass revision my surgery date is on Oct.31 (halloween):) I had lap band over 4 years ago lost 150lbs and began to develope Reflux really bad I am having the revision surgery because I can no longer get fills due to the problems with the reflux so I started putting weight back on over the last year I have gained about 60 of those lost pounds back. I don't want to go back where I started. My insurance Tri-Care will not cover having the band removed but will cover the revision. What can I expect? My doctor said my reflux should get a lot better. anyone had the same experience? is recovery time fairly soon and what diet will i be on. Carolyn — MSCDALEX (posted on October 16, 2007)

Ok I am going to comment on the tricare part of your question...hope this
is helpful, who knows! lol ;o)
I have Tricare too, I guess it depends on what type of tricare you have,
ours is active duty prime remote (we don't live near a military medical
facility)...anyway, tricare should cover the removal of your band because
it is complicating reflux issues it is medically necesary. I would fight
it. I have called them out on stuff before that they normally wouldn't
cover but because the physician reports it as being medically necessary
they covered it. Sometimes tricare is a major pain in the azz. ;o)
