Question:
HI, I m 6 mths out and lost 130lbs already. Feel on top of this world.
The reason i am posting this question is that since last week i have been craving for sweet/sugar at night like about half an hour before sleeping. I dont know why but its happening since last week. Any idea why is this happening and also what should i eat if i am craving for something sugar/sweet? I had protein bars like balance protein bars / low fat oatmeal granola bar . Is that ok to have that? Please let me know other sugar free/ fat free things to eat. I really dont want this to get into this habit of eating sugar stuff. Any ideas how to avoid this craving? Thanks alot in advance. — mrjack (posted on September 28, 2007)

Hi when I want something sweet I drank chrystal lite trop. punch. You can
freez it and it is like a frozen pop. I also eat the suger free cookies.
Only one or two. Just to take the sweet tooth off. Good luck and Congrats.

Sometimes I try applesauce and add extra cimmimon to make it sweeter
tasting. They have low calorie apple sauce, and some at Walmart made with
splenda. That always seems to help me. Also I love the Italian Ice treats
made with splenda by Lugigi brand also in your freezer department at
Walmart. They are so few calories, it wouldn't hurt before bed. I can
only eat a few bites and then I give it to my family to finish.
Good luck

Congrats on your weight loss!!! WOW that is so awesome! I have not had
the surgery yet, however I have a friend that has and for a treat she makes
frozen yogurt by adding splenda or sugar free flavored syrups to plain
yogurt and then she freezes it, she also has sugar free pudding which I
must say is pretty good! Good Luck!

First CONGRATs on your weight loss. That is fantastic. What I do is eat
about 15-20 grapes- for an extra special treat I will freeze them-just
before freezing rinse them then roll them in some Splenda. Another fruit
which cuts the sweet tooth is an orange. Donna

For me, I've always noticed that my sugar cravings are HUGE when I need to
drink water. Esp at night. So I drink a huge glass in the evening 32 oz
or so.. and that usually takes care of it. I mean.. the head hunger is
still there.. but my body doesn't seem to crave it. Also.. when I'm
staying up too late.. I crave sugar.. because I need to sleep and my body
is looking for the boost I am demanding of it.
Hope that helps.

hi
please start reading the BACK of packages and not the front :) 'low fat'
granola bars and oatmeal bars are high in sugar -- the lowest brand out
there for "protein bars" is South Beach Diet -- get in the habit
of reading the nutritional labels -- i always read Protein, Sugar and
Calories in that order -- get some No Sugar Added fudgcicles or Sugar Free
hard candy or string cheese sticks or have a piece of fruit (it's natural
sugar) especially an apple (very high in natural sugar) Cheez Its are
another low sugar snack as are Wheat Thins -- good luck :) i shop for 2
bariatric ppl so it makes shopping easier :)

I have found that when I am not getting enough protein I tend to have
cravings...sweets being the major craving. I up my protein intake and this
seems to take care of the problem.
