Question:
liquid diet and weight loss
Since I am considered a lightweight I am concerned that I may lose too much weight pre op when I am on a liquid diet for a week before my RNY surgery in December. I have already lost 16lbs since the first time they weighed me. I know though I would gain it right back plus more if I did not have this surgery. I'm worried that they might think I lost to much weight and cancel my surgery but yet their putting me on a liquid diet for a week before. — cuppaloopy (posted on November 29, 2009)

I guess all doctors are different. I am considered a lightweight as well. I
weight in 205 before my surgery. My doctor i didn't have to go on a liquid
diet. it's been 3 mos now and dropped 50 lbs. so you may wanna check with
your doctor again.

I was told by my clinic that i would not be on the liquid diet for as long
as they put everyone else on it because they dont want my BMI going below
35...they said i would be on it for a little while to shrink my liver but
that they would provide me extra servings of the protein drink to keep the
calories up so i dont lose too much weight. That is probably what they
would do for you if they require you to be on the diet.
