Question:
has anyone had open heart surgery before wls?

hi,i had open heart surgery 10/04 from clogged arteries,i am a little better now,and want to lose weight .considering wls ,,i am 6'0 300 49 yrs old. i have an ok from my cardiologist but for some reason i am still not convinced i am ok enough for wls. I want to know if anyone has been in my same boat? i have been doing research for over a year,havent read anywhere that someone had ohs before wls.Am I The Only One? thanks for taking the time to read this.Looking for some feedback. Wendy, I had open heart surgery in'94, and waited more than a decade to have a gastric bypass. During that time, I got heavier and sicker, taking more and more meds, until one of my several doctors told me bluntly I had about 5 to 7 years left to live. I was 55 at the time. It yhas been 1 year since my surgery, I am fown fron 370 to 190, am off most of my meds, and my cardiologist is extatic. Don't do thid surgery unless you are sure you Know you want to do it, because it is one of the most difficult things I have ever done, but also one of the most rewarding-and now I am hoping to see my seven week old grandchild grow up! Hi, I had two heart attacks and heart bypass before I had RNY. My two stress tests since WLS have shown new heart damage since my heart bypass, but I have a lot of other health problems and am almost completely unable to excercise, so I don't know how to figure out what is causing what. But I got through the WLS just fine. Good Luck. Nut
