Question:
How to lose weight again?

I had a baby in 10/04, and did great. I gained less than 25 pounds and my baby was healthy, considering I got pregnant 10 mos. out from WLS in 5/03. Here I am a year and a half later and having gained 40+ pounds and very seriously hating myself again. How can I jump start weight loss, get motivated to exercise (I don't want to leave my house because I feel horrible about the way I look and feel about my weight), and stop eating so much (I'm back on the "wheel"...you know, the cycle of hating yourself, eating to feel better, feeling worse for eating, and so on)? I'm extremely frustrated and depressed. Any thoughts or ideas?    — jkwls503 (posted on April 25, 2006)

JENNIFER, you know what you are doing wrong. I quote you: how can i get motivated to stop eating so much. your key word is STOP STOP STOP> lets do one thing at a time. lets start with the food and not worry about your exercise for right now. you will be eating the following way. NO dieting you will be eating the right food at the right time. breakfast = protein shake pre-mix can slimfast if you want snack=toast with 1 oz cheese. lunch= 4 oz meat or chicken or fish grilled or baked, 1 cup steam veggie or 1 cup salald i slice toast. snack=1 apple 2 hours later=1 can protein shake premix dinner= 4 oz of any meat + 1 cup veggie or salad 1 baked potatoe or 1 slice bread snack before you sleep or while you are watching TV SF jello 1 cup plain any flavor you want. this is what you have to do for now. you start changing your food which is the most important process for you. the rest will work itself out and I will share with you how later. one thing at a time. if you have any questions email me [email protected] I hope I am able to help. good luck Dani

That old mental depression cycle is so hard to overcome. You understand what is happening. Now you just have to get it under control. You have to go back to the basics of pouch rules pouch rules for dummies with one exception you are far enough along that you can "protein load". Basically have a protein shake about 15 minutes before each of your regular meals. This will make you feel full faster and cut down on the over eating. Make sure that you only have high protein snacks in your home so you are not tempted with empty carbs. Also, and probably even more important, you need either a counselor, support group mentor, or your OH Angel to check in on you. Be accountable to someone. That always makes it easier to break the cycle. Go do something positive and praise yourself for it. I always tell people that the head is the hardest thing to change. Don't beat yourself up over the past. Move on and tell yourself "yes" in moderation to things rather than the "no" of dieting. This is a lifestyle change not a diet. Also, "yes to a pink spoon of anything" is better on your Psychy.. than always telling yourself "no". Just go get the taste, don't keep the whole carton, box, etc... in your home. Hope that helps.......... Hugs from your okie friend.

The best question is...Are you ready to be exceptional. We all did not have this surgery for a brain transplant, we did this for a use of a tool. Until you get right with "what took you to that place" of an obese mind before undergoing 'THE FIX" . Remember, there is nothing easy in life and I will tell you I gought the same battle as I see alot of others I inspire. If you think you need and you want to change you really have to find your "WHY"...Nothing is easy, if that were the case we all would be healthy and thin... I too gained over 40 pounds back almost to 200 again...Now I am a figure competitor, weighing in @ 125 after a focus group I joined to motivate myself. I lost down to 125 and now maintain my weight at 130... I am involved with helping others change, however you have to have a passion and a desire to be teachable. First hand we have to rid the "old you". Then we should focus on the battle of changing an obese mind one person at a time. I am a stay home mom and enjoy helping others. I am opening up a Nutrition Club and Studio soon. My focus is my frineds that have went through what most of the world thinks that "WE TOOK THE EASY WAY OUT" By far is this an easy way out. We are no different than any other person with an addiction of other addictions. If you desire for someone to guide you through what has worked for me... Just ask... Until you find your why, I will be waiting... Check out my success... I want to domino myself in others... Hoping you find your reason... Celeste Momin

I do not have any advice but a suggestion, since your little one is about 18 months old. How about if you join a mom and baby excercise class? You would be spending quality time with your little one, you can even find pool classes for moms and their little ones, so I hope this gives you some ideas. Good luck and god bless

There is also a great Yahoo Group called OSSG-Off_Track and it's very helpful - quite a few people suffering from working off their regain and a couple having revisions... -- Jennifer
