Question:
PLEASE HELP! Has anyone used Anthem of CO for WLS.

Anthem of Colorado only covers 7500.00 of WLS as they feel that surgery is cosmetic. I have not had my surgery yet, and trying to find out what kind of a fight I am in for. I am debating on private paying the remainder and also whether or not I will need to hire a lawyer in order for Anthem to pay for all. Has anyone been through this Ins. company before. and what did you do?    — junior (posted on March 1, 2006)

I'm going through the appeal right now with Anthem. I was told by someone high up that the only way to get the exemption turned over was with an attorney, so I hired Gary Viscio. It's been a long process and it's not over yet, but I feel pretty confident with Gary. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions - I have done lots of research on Anthem and WLS and I can try to answer some of your questions.

Anthem of CO covered my lap rny almost 3 years ago. I didn't even have to contact them. The staff at Colorado Springs Surgical Associates handled everything. Dr. Scott Fisher performed the surgery at Penrose.
