I have B/C/B/S federal employee program of AL and they don't pre approve but i did get a pre-certification that stated thie following..."Our medical Review Staff has advised that the gastric restrictive procedure;with gastric bypass and roux-en-y gastroenterostomy (roux limb 150 com or less) appears to meet medical criteria." Now, I'm still afraid they won't pay after surgery..What do I do? I have read on other profiles that they will review it after surgery, Is this true? please help I am scheduled for surgery in 8 days thanks~ Melissa    — WannaBSlim (posted on February 15, 2006)

I have Federal BC/BS of WV and they paid for my surgery 3 years ago (down 150 lbs). I don't think the doctor or hospital would do the surgery if they were not sure they were going to get paid by the insurance carrier. Good Luck! Your life will change immensely.

I also have BC/BS with the State and the above post is correct, the doctor most likely would not perform the surgery unless he was certain to get paid for it. My letter said the same thing and my doctor's nurse is sure it will be covered. HTH
