Question:
Poll... How many DX infertile before RNY, had a baby after?
I am considering RNY- 262 lbs, TTC since 1997, 2 failed IVFs with a search of one last possibility of having a child. How many of you had a similar journey and after RNY had a baby? How long after surgery did you concieve? For those who had this success, please share your journey with me. Thank you in advance for your response. — A. Me (posted on November 9, 2009)

Hi Tina, I had RNY 7/05 and before I had it I weighed 402 at my highest
weight. It was the best thing I ever did in my whole life. Before I had
the surgery I wasn't getting pregnant or getting my period normal. I was
never told I couldn't have children but my husband and I were trying to
concieve for about 10 years and I never used protection and never got
pregnant. I was told I wasn't ovulating to often, I rarely ever got my
period and I think I had PCOS but was never diagnosed with it. I never
went to the doctor to get any testing done. After I had the surgery I
started getting my period normally after about 3 months that I started
losing weight. I waited until I was down to about 168 in 11/06 and was at
a weight that I was happy with and decided to try again to get pregnant and
three weeks later I took a pregnancy test and I was pregnant! I had a
beautiful baby girl in 8/07 and now I am 9 months pregnant with my second
baby! I had no trouble at all getting pregnant after the surgery and
hopefully plan to have more. I've heard alot of people who couldn't have
children before losing the weight then have no problem after having it.
Goodluck to you. I hope i've helped. If you have any other questions let
me know. Jeannie

I am only 2 weeks post op, I have one child already but plan on in the
future having another child, so I am so glad to hear someone say they have
had successful pregnancy after surgery. That was my biggest concern prior
to deciding on surgery, but hope that my second pregnancy will only be
healthier since I will be healthier this time. Thanks for sharing!
