Question:
if your thigh feels numb or asleep since surgery.....
I have seen this addressed but not the answer, here it is; MERALGIA PARESTHETICA is what it is called. Feelings like pins and needles on the outside of your thigh down to your knee. It is nerve damage most likely caused by a belt they strapped you to the operating table with too tightly. There is no cure, the nerve regenerates itself over time, can take a few weeks or over 1 year. Please let you Dr.s office know this. It is easily avoidable. I know this isn't a question, but I wanted to make sure it got into the library. Good luck all, Katie — KATIE B. (posted on May 1, 2001)

I am so glad that you explained this problem. I thought it was my
imagination that I was having this numbness. I had surgery almost 7 mos
ago. I noticed the prickly feeling a short time after surgery and thought I
was sleeping on my one side too much. It kind of scared me as I am so heavy
I thought I was stopping the circulation or something of that nature. I
wrote it down as one of the questions to ask at my 6 mo checkup. By the
time I saw the DR, the strange feeling was gone. It is nice to know what it
was. It all makes sense. Sheila
