I am having surgery on 4-25-00 and included in my Pre Admissions Test are an EKG, Chest Xray, Blood work, and a NON AVASIVE or NON INVASIVE veinous test...What exactly is it and how is it done...is it like ultrasound or sonogram? I looked through the questions and answers page but couldnt find any info...maybe I am spelling it incorrectly...please fill me in as I am having the test done on Monday. Is this a test to find out if I will need a vena cava filter? — ginariso (posted on April 13, 2000)

You are probably going to have a venous doppler. It is an ultrasound where
they will push on your veins with an ultrasound probe from your groin to a
little below your knee(both legs)to make sure that you have no clots. Non
invasive, no pain, a little pressure from the pushing. otherwise a pretty
simple test. if you need to know anything more email I would be glad to
help.

I had a venous doppler - it was like and ultrasound of my legs (venous is
for vein). Hope this helps - it was no big deal...who is doing your
surgery?
