Question:
I had my 1st fill yesterday. It hurt and I'm sore. Is this normal?

I had my Surgery on Aug 19th. My first fill yesterday Sept 29. The needle didnt really hurt and i could feel the band tighten. It wasnt till i was driving home that i wasnt feeling well. Its not too tight because i can get water and small amounts of soft food down. Just wondering if this is normal or if anyone else got sore.    — alicutshair (posted on September 30, 2009)

I experienced pain and discomfort with all of my fills, except the one that the surgeon himself performed... There were plenty of times that I would prolong my fill visits because the nurse was a little rough... She ended up being removed. If it hurts too much, you should let the surgeon know.

I would recommend that you insist on seeing your surgeon when you go in for your rechecks and "fills". You pay the same either way, and you deserve to have his expertise. This is esp. important if you have any questions, or are having any problems. Also, make sure you swallow a small cup of water after your fill, to make sure it goes down alright. Don't have them add so much fluid the next time you see the surgeon. You can set up another appointment anytime if you think you still need to add more. Some visits you won't need a "fill". As long as you are eating 2-4 small meals a day, are full and satisfied, are eating healthy meals, and not vomiting, you are "in the zone". No "fill" is necessary. I still visit with my surgeon every 1-2 months even though I am 5 years post-op and have reached my goal weight. Little things come up, and problems pop up now and then. It is nice to have a good relationship with your surgeon. Good luck with your "fills". God Bless

I had my first fill this past monday and It's felt a little sore right after he finished but it went away soon after. If it don't feel better you might want to call it in. Good Luck

I have never had any pain after my fill....my doctor always do them in radiology it takes longer to get setup then it takes for him to do the fill....please give your doctor a call for a follow-up just to make sure everything is ok..
