Our daughter had this same problem and she is two months out, she went to
her surgeon and she had a stricture, (which is the opening to you pouch
closes up and nothing can get though) she had mega amount of pills stuck.
My own personnel advice "CALL YOU DOCTOR" right away and see if
you may have this. She is doing great now that he has opened her back up.
She has lost 60lbs in two month.

If you have PAIN when you drink, call your doctor immediately. It could be
signs of an obstruction or a hernia forming. I've been to many support
group meetings, where I've heard the same description you gave, and it
required the doctor to investigate.

thank you for the information- I did call the Dr. office when this started
- and was told it sounded like gas pains - advised to walk ,walk, walk and
take gas X. I did not talk to Doctor that day but I have sent him an urgent
e-mail now thanks to your advise. Will follow up with phone call as well.
For now , I took a pain pill and am trying to sip liquids. The pain is
still there for 1-2 minutes every time I start to drink - but the pain pill
is blunting the pain.
So appreciate your taking the time to help me!

Hi Liz, my friend enlightened me to the Gas X strips that dissolve on your
tongue. They work really well for me as well. I've had gas floating
around to the degree that it felt like a pinball game going on inside
me...including the mid-chest pain you mentioned. Also, I resummed taking
my RX for heartburn (can't think of the name at the moment, starts with an
"O", generic version of one of the biggies... can open the
capsule and mix with apple sauce and goes down quite easily, no taste, and
has helped with the indigestion as well) good luck to you, Leslie

when this happened to my mom, her doc told her to get the mylacon drops
used for babies with gas and see if it helps. my doc suggested drinking
warm water, if i could stand it. if the pain continues to bother you, you
should call your doctor and ask what they recommend.

Thanks to all who answered my plea for help! My doctor's office called me
back - and gave me precriptions for CARAFATE and PROTONIX ( both are for
ulcers) and I was also scheduled for surgery in case my pouch was closing
up.
(during the surgery - the docter puts a scope down your throat
and can see your new stomach - and see if there are problems - if there are
he can fix them right thru the scope -- sounds scary - any surgery is --)
After two days the medicine seemed to be working - but I
was still having pain - so into surgery I went. When all was done, I did
not have stricture -- my new pouch was just inflammed. ( the doctor says
sometimes this happens and no
one knows why - but the irritaton needs to be treated )
So for now, I am to continue to take the CARAFATE and the PROTONIX and
these meds should protect my new stomach and allow my stomach irritation to
go away.
Thank you all for the care and the suggestions. CALL YOUR DOCTOR was the
magic key -- I did not want to bother the doctor, so I was trying to
"fix" this problem on my own. WRONG answer! He is the
professional - let him help you.
Make sure his office staff ASKED HIM about your problem - call back more
than once if needed. The staff is always helpful - but MAKE SURE your
answer is really coming from the DOCTOR.
