I got a digital scale from Linens and things - I think it was a weight
watchers one. It was $40 with a $10 rebate. It works perfectly. I also
got a digital food scale. It is wonderful. Unlike those other food scales
where it bounces back and forth between and you don't get an exact measure.
it does make all the difference in the world.
My weight scale is right on with the docs. I am very pleased. sometimes
it just pays to invest a little so we have reassurance and peace of mind.

Hi Kathy, I know your devestation all to well. I did the same thing
thinking I had lost 23 pounds in 2 weeks, the doctors scale told different.
I chucked my digital scale (cheap) and went and bought me a titanium scale
that weighs up to 500 pounds for $97.00 plus shipping and handling from
scales.com. Best of luck and dont worry sweety, before long you will have
lost THAT plus more, hang in there. Mickey.......

Yeah that usually happens with cheap scales. The doctor's office's
regularly have theirs calibrated to get exact results. Hang in there the
weight does come off! Good luck and God Bless!

I ordered my Tanita digital scale from amazon.com before surgery and it has
been wonderful in my weekly weigh ins...I am still more at the doctors but
I always weigh myself first thing in the am completely naked. Do not use a
cheap scale, invest in a good one that is accurate!

I also bought the weight watcher's scales and they work perfectly. In fact
a weight loss group I belong to uses them to weigh us in every week. They
are very close to what the doctor's weighs and everyone knows the doctor's
scales always weigh more than ours at home because they service so many
people. Try these scales by weight watcher's and see if you're not happier.
Good Luck on your weight loss!

Hello,
I have a weight watchers scale too. (from walmart) I bought it because it
weighed up to 350 lbs. My last 3 doc appointments I have weighed myself on
my home scale and it has consistantly been 4 lbs HEAVIER then my doc's
scale. Talk about a switch! At first I thought it was a fluke.. but the
next two times of my home scale showing me 4 pounds heavier then the doc's
made me think that maybe I was on to something. LOL I prefer my old
fashion heavy duty scale with the round face and the arrow that moves when
you stand on it. It has yet to disagree with my doc's scale. Just my
experiance.. :)

Hi Kathy, thanks for writing. Congratulations on your 28 pounds! That is
awesome. Put 28 pounds of butter stacked on top of each other, and that is
no longer on your body! Way to go girl! I know you are discouraged
because your scale has been lying to you, but hey, you did the right thing,
throw out the liar and got something that told you the truth. You can face
the truth, even though it is a little tough and discouraging, you can face
it. And guess what, it should tell you the truth next week and the week
after, so you will be able to know when it reaches 40 again, that it is
right. So don't be discouraged, you have lost, you will continue to lose
if you stick with the program, and it won't be long at all if you keep with
protein, water AND exercise, before you say "40 pounds, wow that was
months ago that I was at the 40 pound mark". Take care, and best to
you. Patricia P.

Unfortunately, you do get what you pay for! oh well cheap high at 40lbs in
a 1/2 hours right?! hahahaha
Also, do not even, for one single minute think that the dr's scales are
continually calibrated. NOT They usually are of a decent quality so they
don't fall out of calibration too easily. It costs to recalibrate and last
I knew, most are too cheap or not aware to have the regular maint. done!
Ask you'll be surprised.

Yes think for a single moment doc's offices DO have their scales regularly
calibrated. I did Medical billing for 12 years IN clinics from Las Vegas
to 2 different cities here in Georgia. Every clinic I worked in had
REGULAR maintenance done on their scales!

Taylor brand digital scales are usually pretty good. I have a glass and
metal one for $28.99 at Walmart. Mine is usually right on according to my
surgeon's own scale.

I bought a digital scale from Walmart and it works just fine. The only
difference in weight between my scale at home and the doctor's office is
that I weigh in the nude at home and I'm fully clothed at the doctor's
office, but the weights are generally the same +/- a pound or two. Your
weight fluctuates at different times during the day. You should weigh
yourself:
the same way (nude)
on the same scale
at the same time of day
to get the most accurate weight.
I'm a nurse and I have patients that have to be weighed daily. Most
doctors order this weight to be taken at 6am. I weigh every morning when I
get up, after using the bathroom, in the buff, & before I shower. My
weight remains generally the same from day to day. Sometimes I'm heavier
in the afternoon when I've eaten and taken in fluids all day. Therefore, do
it in the mornings on an empty stomach w/ an empty bladder before your body
starts to re-distribute fluids. It's the most accurate time of day to
weigh. Good luck!
