Question:
How effective are bc pills post op?

I know this question has been asked before. I am on bc pills and wanted to switch to the bc patch. After research I found out that the patch is not effective for women that weigh over 198 lbs. I have read that bc pills are not absorbed as well after surgery. Can I please hear from women that have been sucessful on the pill after surgery. Thank you.    — Ronika D. Hi there! I have been an avid BC Pill taker for 10 years. My surgeon made me go off the pill for 30 days before surgery to decrease the risk of blood clots, and I went back on them a few weeks after surgery. I was REALLY concerned about malabsorbtion, and the effectiveness. I called the Dr a few times to make sure. So, I am 5 months out now, and a Newlywed, and I am not pregnant (yet!) I just got the clearence to try and start having babies at the end of the year! Good Luck! Use an additional method for the first month, when you start back on them again!
