Question:
Is there a surgeon in Texas who does deodenal switch?

I have been approved for RNY on the 17th of Feb. But I would rather have the DS, but cannot find a surgeon in Texas or Western Louisana, Oklahoma who does it. I cannot afford to pay for a flight to somewhere else. Will CIGNA PPO pay for a flight to another state to have the DS?    — LORRIE F. (posted on February 5, 2003)

For the best info about insurance and the DS, go to www.duodenalswitch.com or to the Yahoo DS board. We have people from all over who can answer any question you may have. I had a DS 16 months ago today. I've lost 136 lbs and feel fantastic!

The Crossover Bridge group in Ocean Springs, MS is doing the DS. If you get approved for the DS and have the surgery, they should cover your transportation as the surgery was not available in your locale. That is provided your particular coverage compensates for travel, mine did. I think it would be worth it for you to investigate this further. Good luck to you!
