Question:
Anyone have surgery with Dr. Shin
I seen Dr. Shin and loved him and then my PCP decided to send me to see Dr. Akkary and I liked him too. However, Dr. Akkary wants to do the lapband due to I have CHF and my BMI is 59. He told me if he did the bypass that there was a chance that where he cuts and puts it back together could come apart due to how much I weigh. I did not get that from Dr. Shin he said he could do the bypass without a problem. Why would one said it would and another would tell me it would? I do not get it at all. Now I am worried to have anything done. Help please????? — lscheller (posted on May 30, 2009)

Dr. Shin in Charleston WV is the very best DR. God ever made!!!!! He is
without na doubt, one of the VERY best gatric bypass doctors in the entire
USA! Go with Robert Shin without a single doubt!!!! And, no, he did not
perform my gastric bypass, but I have numerous friends and support group
members of his as patients. I even know of him well because I go with some
friends to their appts. to see him! You will never go wrong with Dr. Shin,

I am a pt. of Dr. Shin's. I am tentatively scheduled for RNY this summer
if I get ins. approval. I would ask Dr. Shin why this other Dr. believes
you aren't a candidate for RNY and tell him what Dr. A. told you. I
researched bariatric surgeons carefully before I decided to go with Dr.
Shin. I love his nut. Beverly- she is very supportive and knowledgable.
Get as much info. as you can- ask people who have had surgery what they
think of their M.D.s. I don't think the band and I are a good fit- make
sure you think it's for you. There is an excellent book titled
"Weight Loss Surgery For Dummies." Good Luck!
