Question:
One year out of lap band surgery

I am one year out of lap band surgery. I have lost 116 lbs. Does anyone with this time frame still have a few times of vomiting or the "foamies". I do not vomit all the time. Maybe I am so hungry I eat too fast. Just how small a bite is considered the right size? My doctor has loosened my band so that I will begin to slow down losing weight. HI shelly! Congrats on the weight loss. That is great!!! I am 7 weeks out with Lapband. I am down 25lbs since surgery but 60lbs since Nov/07. I was told to cut my food into pieces the size you would give a toddler. Hope that helps. --Karen in MA

That's a great weight loss. I had lap band on 1/28/08. I have been having the 'foamies' since my last fill. Like you, I think it might be when I eat too fast, but I am glad to see that I am not the only one, I had no idea it happens to others. My doctor said that nothing larger than a chicklet should be put in my mouth. I do try to follow the rule, but sometimes the 'golf ball' feeling seems to come from the type of food, not the size. Thanks for your post. I feel better that I know someone else get's the 'foamies', which is a perfect description.

I use a small set of silverare and there for I can control my bite sizes......I have a retail shop so looked for over 4 months to find a set that was pretty.....good stainless and that I would feel comfortable taking to a restruant and using in pulblic. This has helped me ao much and I now have very few problems taking to big a bite.......perhaps you can find some on your own....if not e-mail me and I will send you a picture.... Taking tiny bites is so hard when you are trying to use a regular size for....the small bites fit perfect on the small silverware. You have done great with your weight loss and should be very proud. Sometimes stress can put a squeeze on your tummy, even cold weather makes mine tight. Some foods are tolerable one day and not the next. I think obeying your tummy is the key. Yes, sometimes it is eating too fast or too much, but not always. I am 4 years out and still vomit. Buffets are no no's for me because of the bacteria in the food. I just obey my tummy. Congratulations on a tremendous job.

Wow what a great weight loss. I am just at the beginning of getting my lap band. If I could lose 100 lbs I would be at 160 which would be good for my height, 5'9". Could you tell me about your journey? Mary

Congratulations on your weight loss! I have LapBand surgery on Tuesday and would be very pleased with similar results. I was advised to chew 30 times per bite with each the size of a pencil eraser. I have purchased baby flatware and dishes to help with my mental perception of size.
