Question:
Has anyone's nipples become darker and bigger after weight loss surgery?
Hi, I had my surgery a month ago and I have dropped quite a bit of weight, I have PCOS, and since I have lost weight my periods are more regular but I have also noticed my nipples have become bigger and darker. I took a pregnancy test a couple of days ago and it was negative so I am wondering if its a sign of fertility? PLEASE HELP! — bhoff1027 (posted on April 5, 2010)

I am not a doctor or a nurse, but I've read up a LOT on the physical side
effects of WLS surgery, and from what I understand, most of your hormones
are stored in your fat, and when you lose the fat rapidly, you experience a
rush of hormones released into your bloodstream. Now, pregnancy does the
same thing, so it might be that your body is reacting the same way it would
to pregnancy "signals" and that is why your breasts and nipples
have experienced a change. I'd say that when your hormones have leveled
out, they will probably go back to normal. At least, that train of thought
makes sense to me. But, if it persists or concerns you, I would check with
my surgeon or his or her PA just to make sure.

I found your post, after looking for answers on this topic. I am 5 months
out and have lost 110 lbs. My nipples have gotten bigger and more
sensative. I didn't get periods before surgery, so I am thinking my
harmones are going crazy.
